Jewelry Care
Caring for Your Jewelry
Every pair of House of Isari jhumkas is hand-checked before it reaches you. With the right care, they'll stay beautiful for years to come.
General Care
- Remove your jhumkas before showering, swimming, washing hands, or any water activity. Moisture is the number one enemy of plated jewelry
- Apply perfume, hairspray, and lotions BEFORE putting on your jhumkas and never after
- Avoid sleeping in your jhumkas
- Remove before any physical activity or exercise
- Keep away from household chemicals, cleaning products, and chlorine
Putting On & Taking Off
- Always handle your jhumkas gently; never force, tug, or pull
- Push-back closures: Press firmly but gently to secure; never force the post through
- Huggie hoop closures: Open and close slowly using both hands; never snap or force shut
- Hook closures: Gently guide the hook through your ear; never yank or bend the hook
- If a closure feels stiff, do not force it; gently wiggle until it releases
Storage
- Keep away from other jewelry to prevent scratching and tangling
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
- Avoid storing in humid areas like bathrooms
- For jhumkas with dangling stones or fringe, lay flat to prevent tangling
Cleaning
- Wipe gently with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth after every wear
- Never use jewelry cleaner, toothpaste, or any chemical solution on plated jewelry
- Never use tissue paper or paper towels; they can scratch the finish
- If your jhumkas need a deeper clean, use a slightly damp soft cloth and dry immediately
- Never submerge in water or use an ultrasonic cleaner
Plating Care
- Gold-plated and rhodium-plated jewelry will naturally wear over time; proper care significantly extends the life of your plating
- Avoid rubbing plated surfaces against hard surfaces
- The more you care for them, the longer they'll last
Remove your jhumkas during
- Showering or bathing
- Swimming (pool, ocean, hot tub)
- Cooking or cleaning
- Sleeping
- Working out
- Applying beauty products
A Note on Our Jewelry
Our jhumkas are crafted from brass alloy with gold-plated or rhodium-plated finishes. They are fashion/imitation jewelry and not solid gold or silver. With proper care, they will maintain their shine and beauty for a long time.
If you have known metal sensitivities, we recommend consulting with your doctor before wearing.
